Firecrests, Embroidery Improvers and Mixed Media three day workshop. This is not for a beginner.

Join Eileen for this next steps in your embroidery adventure.

On this course you will learn to create an outline on cotton.
You will be shown how to embroider Satin Stitch, French Knots, Turkey Stitch, Detached Bullion Stitch and Stump Work, and
create mixed media lichens.
At the end of the course you will have made a picture of male and female Firecrests on a lichen branch using a hoop.

Class plan

Day 1 We will discuss the need to cover the hoop and the sewing edges. You will be shown how to plan your picture and transfer it to fabric. You will be shown some of the above stitches and start sewing your birds.

Day 2  You will start work on the lichen by colouring your T-shirt fabric with acrylics. (paints etc will be supplied)  Back to the embroidery creating legs and feet using Stump Work.

Day 3 Making lichen shapes.  Sewing bark and lichens. Recap on techniques learned.

Supplied in the cost of the course

Cotton Fat Quarter, final picture on photo paper, outline picture for tracing on to fabric, trace down paper, acrylic paint, water pots, paint brushes.

You will need to bring

Two embroidery hoops one 6 inches (15cms) and one 10 inches (25cms) or 12inches (30cms)

White t shirt fabric 4 inches (10cms) square

Apron you don’t mind getting stained

A mechanical Pencil and paper

Needles and Needle Threader if you need one

Embroidery scissors or snips
