Description
Beginners Goldwork Workshop
What is Goldwork Embroidery? ✨
Goldwork is a beautiful traditional embroidery technique that uses metal threads, like gold, silver and copper, to create shimmering, textured designs. Instead of stitching through the fabric, many of the metallic threads are laid on the surface and couched down, giving that rich, raised look.
This technique has been around for over a thousand years, used historically on royal clothing, church vestments and military uniforms. Today, it’s loved for its sparkle, elegance and the wonderfully slow, mindful stitching it encourages.
Perfect for beginners who want to try something a little bit special! ✨🧵
Join us for a wonderfully relaxing and creative day learning the beautiful art of goldwork embroidery. This friendly beginners workshop is designed to guide you gently through the key techniques while you stitch one of these two elegant butterfly designs.
