Beginners Cable Knitting Day

Join us for a fun and hands-on knitting class where you’ll learn the art of cable knitting!

This one-day workshop is designed for those who are already comfortable with basic knitting techniques and would like to explore the wonderful world of cables. Our expert tutor, Karen, will guide you through every step of the way, helping you master this beautiful and intricate knitting technique.

Morning Session: 6-Stitch Cable We’ll start the day by learning a simple and essential cable technique: the 6-stitch cable. This will be your foundation for understanding how cables work and how to incorporate them into your projects. By the end of the morning session, you’ll feel confident in creating this beautiful textured stitch and be ready to add it to your own knitting.

Afternoon Session: Open Cable or Braided Cable After lunch, we’ll dive into more advanced cable techniques. Karen will introduce you to the Open Cable, a delicate and airy design that will give your projects a unique flair or Braided Cable, a striking and intricate pattern that looks much more complicated than it actually is! By the end of the afternoon, you’ll have added more exciting cable patterns to your knitting toolkit.

• Knitting needles and cable needles
• A ball of Aran knitting yarn
• Handouts with notes and instructions from Karen
• Expert tuition and plenty of guidance throughout the day

What You Need to Know: To get the most out of this class, students should already be confident in knitting both plain (knit) and purl stitches. If you’re comfortable with these basics, you’re all set to join us and learn the art of cable knitting!
