Block Print & Goldwork Workshop

Join us for a relaxed and creative day exploring the combination of block printing and decorative stitching with metal threads.

In this workshop, Maria Maidment will guide you through using her own hand-carved wooden printing blocks to design and print your own fabric. Once your design is complete, you’ll move on to adding texture and detail using traditional goldwork techniques, creating a piece inspired by Celtic patterns with a subtle touch of gold.

You’ll be introduced to a range of specialist techniques including passing thread, vermicelli stitch, wire work and the use of spangles. Maria will demonstrate each step, making this suitable for those new to these techniques as well as those looking to expand their embroidery skills.

All materials are provided, including fabric, inks, and a selection of threads so you can simply come along and enjoy the day.

What to Bring

All tools will be provided, but if you have a favourite pair of scissors or an embroidery hoop, you are very welcome to bring them along.
Please also bring a packed lunch, your glasses if needed, and a small sewing kit if you prefer to use your own.
