January BOM 2025
Starting on 20/1/2025 This order will not be sent out until this date.
Step into the world of slow sewing with our January Block of the Month, the first instalment of a brand-new program designed to provide you with moments of mindful creativity. As we navigate the fast-paced currents of the modern world, this program invites you to embrace the therapeutic art of slow stitching, allowing you to savour the process of creating something beautiful with your own hands.
Introducing the “Wings of Reflection” Mystery Block of the Month program from the Slow Sewing in a Fast World collection. Each month, receive a hand-sewing block pattern with detailed instructions, or choose the pattern with a fabric kit featuring beautiful blue and white fabrics. Perfect for using your fabric stash, the pattern creates a stunning scrappy quilt. This mindful sewing journey encourages slowing down, focusing on hand-sewing, and crafting a quilt the traditional way. Join our private Facebook group to connect with fellow participants, share tips, and support each other along the way. I will invite this to you via your email address.
Please note that purchasing an individual pattern does not automatically enrol you in the program—contact me directly to join this community of mindful crafters. To sign up for the program, simply reach out to me at Mary@patchworkdreamer.co.uk with your email address, and I’ll send you an invoice on the 20th of each month. However if you purchase the fabric kit you will be signed up for the full 12 months. Please be mindful of this.
The finished quilt is a three by four format of twelve inch blocks, traditionally pieced no applique. Between each block is a sashing of flying geese which are three inches wide.
Finished quilt will be 48 inches by 63 inches
If using your own fabrics you will need approx. 3 metres of a mixture of different fabrics (fat quarters work well) for the blocks and for the flying geese 1.85cms of the sky fabric (blue) and 1.65cms of the geese fabric (cream)
Everyone will need cardboard (cereal packet works great) to stick the templates on.
Scissors for both paper and fabric.
Thread I used this one
A glue stick to stick the patterns onto your cardboard
A sheet of fine sand paper is useful
Depending on how you like to cut your templates a quarter of an inch ruler may be useful.
If you want your templates to be a bit more hard wearing template plastic may be useful.
Please note if you buy the fabric kit option you will be signed up for the full 12 months. Please be mindful of this.
