Description
Reimagined Scandinavian Bog Jacket
A ‘minimal waste’ simple to make project. Made from folding a rectangle of fabric.
On this workshop we will go through measuring yourself to make this two seam, edge to edge jacket/coat. As there are no pattern pieces and we work from your own measurements, this make is suitable for all sizes.
I will also bring along samples of other ways to use this technique.
A stable woven fabric (cotton, linen, cotton canvas) is ideal for your first time making this project, although other fabrics can be used. Do you have a quilt top you have sewn and not put together as a quilt? Yes you can use that too.
You will need a minimum of 1 metre 54”/60” fabric. With a longer piece you can make a longer jacket/coat and wider front binding.
Or – 1.5m of 44” quilting cotton. This will make a short jacket, with the pattern running along the width of the jacket and sleeves. To make this longer you would have to add a panel.
If you wish to bind your interior seams you can also use a bias binding (or cut your own). Additional fabric would be needed for this.
As this project is folded over the shoulder it is easier for you to start with a non directional pattern on your fabric.
I look forward to seeing you there.
You will also need:
Sewing machine – overlocker if you prefer.
Thread.
General sewing kit….sharp scissors, tape measure etc.
